Philosophy
"Draw your attention to what draws your attention". I have quietly cultivated skills and interests that have been beneficial in seemingly abstract ways. Noticing the way light hits a curved corner on a jobsite and capturing it in a photograph, obsessing over details in a custom wood joint, an obscure and odd fascination with theoretical physics and its' practical applications, etc... Sometimes these skills and interests are seen as detrimental to the goal of "getting the job done", but what I have learned over the years is that there is no end goal in all of this. That obsession and that moment when the light catches my eye, the questions that arise from a fleeting moment of concentration, those are the goals. Moments that lock me into the present and stop time.
